Computer upgrades in numbers

One machine is a repair. Ten machines is a different job entirely — it needs a survey, a schedule, and someone who finishes it. That is what this is for.

A school computer lab, an office of fifteen machines, or a run of hospitality front-desk computers do not fail one at a time. They age together, they are bought together, and at some point every one of them needs the same thing. Handling that as twelve separate jobs is how a week gets lost.

We take them as a single job. We survey every machine, tell you honestly which ones are worth repairing and which are worth replacing, and you get one written quote covering all of it — not a series of surprises as each machine lands on the bench.

What we can do in a batch

  • Refresh cycles. Working through a lab or a floor over the holidays so nothing is left on the last week.
  • Memory and storage. The cheapest real upgrade there is. A machine with enough RAM and an SSD usually does not need replacing at all.
  • Failures. Power supplies, motherboards, drives that have started clicking, machines that will not boot. Sorted in order of how many people they are blocking.
  • Operating systems. Machines that dropped out of support, or a roll of new machines that need imaging and setting up consistently.
  • Printers and sharing. Putting the printer on the network and getting it printing from every device that needs it.
  • End-of-life. Knowing which machines are past the point where repairing them is sensible, before you spend money discovering it.

How a batch actually runs

  1. Survey. We come out and look at everything, or you send us the list with ages and symptoms. You get an honest split: repair, upgrade, replace, or leave alone.
  2. One written quote. Covering the whole batch, in writing, before anything is ordered or opened.
  3. Scheduled work. Either on site, or machines come to the workshop in Northern Paarl in batches so you are not disrupted. Whichever suits how your day runs.
  4. Handover. Machines back, upgraded, tested, and a 6-month warranty on the work and the parts.

A recent job

A school in Franschhoek came to us with twelve desktops that had been carrying learners for years and had reached the point where the classroom was waiting on them. We worked through the batch — upgrading what was worth upgrading and repairing what was not — and got them back working.

It is the sort of job that is awkward for anyone who only does single machines, and unremarkable for us. If you have a batch of anything, from four laptops to a full lab, ring and we will tell you straight whether it is worth doing and what it should take.

Where we cover

Paarl and Paarl Central, Wellington and the estates along the R44, Franschhoek and the valley, Drakenstein and the surrounding farms. We travel — there is a call-out fee for on-site work, quoted per job and covering travel, and we will tell you honestly whether a visit is worth it or whether bringing the machines in works out better.

What we do not do

We do not take on open-ended support contracts or ongoing helpdesk work. We are a repair and upgrade workshop, and the work we take on is work we can finish on a bench or in a scheduled visit and stand behind with a warranty.

We also do not quote a price we have not looked at first. On a batch that matters more than it does on a single machine, because the quote is the whole point.

Start the conversation

Ring 081 015 0573 and describe what you have — how many machines, how old, and what they are doing wrong. That is usually enough for us to tell you whether it is a repair job, an upgrade job, or a replace job, and roughly what it involves.

If you would rather send the details in writing, email info@galvitech.co.za with the machine list and we will come back to you. If you know when your term or financial year ends, mention it — that is usually what decides the schedule.
